Vibe Contents Page Analysis

Title: The title contents has been placed in a different approach to other magazines allowing it to be unique and different,and possibly connoting the individuality of the genre of music that vibe covers. Its in bold white font allowing it to contrast the dark red background and allows the to be a clear contrast between innocence (white) and danger (red). The layout of the word 'contents' has been broken up into three different lines which adds an edge to the page and is consistant with the style of vibe magazine.

Logo: The 'Vibe' magazine logo has been included on the top right corner and it also includes the issue of the magazine which is December, 2008.

Background color: The deep red/burgundy background could be connoting deep danger; it also compliments the artist skin tone. As well as,a good contrast to the white writing giving a modern feel. The color used also brings our attention back to the artist showing that he is the main focus of the contents page.

The main image: The model is pictured topless allowing his tattoos to show, his got variety of 'bling' pieces on including chains ,bracelets, grills and large rings showing his riches and is also wearing a hat backwards. These elements promote youth culture and wealth. One of his chains show a man in a mask which could relate to crime or robbery it could also suggest that he is creating a unique image for him self. The figure portrays anger and danger and is not designed to look appealing or to look like a loving and caring person it breaks social constrains which conforms to the stereotype of hip-hop artist.

The masthead: Contents pages include a smaller version of the magazines masthead from the front cover, however Vibe has enlarged the original masthead (V). Its large size reminds the readers it is vibe that they are reading. It is important as its a for of iconography for the music magazine as it allows the brand identity to continuously be promoted.

Dates:  The date has been placed in the right corner and bottom left corner; ates are an important aspect for any magazine as it allows people to know the issue number and know how old the magazine is.

Subheading: The subheading are placed onto the left side of the page in white bold font, this allows the magazine to be readable. It is basic and straight to the point giving an insight of each page. The contents are separated into two different sections allowing it to be easy to navigate and avoid any complications. Avoiding too much color allows the magazine to look mature and serious therefore readers will take this approach when reading the magazine too. Page numbers follow after each small caption which summarizes the articles.
