Masthead: Includes the 'Billboard' logo which is recognizable by customers as it is seen on every edition of the magazine therefore stands out to certain customers. The font used is informal as its bubble writing suggesting its aimed at a younger audience such as teenagers. The masthead includes neutral colors such as yellow and red therefore is appealing for both sexes (male and female). The word billboard itself suggests advertising, allowing the customers to understand that the magazine content is a form of media.

Main image: The front cover of Rihanna represents women as being a object of the male gaze. This is reinforced by Rihanna's red hair and red lips which suggests passion, lust and danger which appeals to male. Rihanna is a object of desire, as she wears a revealing crop top which is made from lace showing her femininity and innocence, but also reveals her gun tattoo, which shows Rihanna is the opposite to innocence and almost fierce. Her pose is very provocative which could possibly appeal to women as they will admire Rihanna and aspire to her.

Date and price: The price is located in the bottom left corner and is very small conveying that the company doesn't want the price to stand put as it doesn't appeal to the audience.

Bar code: A common convention of a magazine needed for purchase.

Quote preview: "My fans don't really know who i am"This makes the readers want to read on in order to discover more about the singer and feel closer to her as they love the idea of reading an exclusive. It also gives an insight of what the article will be about.

The feature headline: "Rihanna" is written in gradient above of the quote preview suggesting it is fading because the Rihanna we think we know, we don't. This could be because of her reinventions. The heading is spread across the magazine, bigger than the masthead suggesting that Rihanna is more recognizable than the magazine and could attract more customers

Layout: Margin area allows the magazine to have a orderly format. It is an L layout, therefore you instantly read from left to right. The color schemes are red and white, which are simplistic, mature and appealing
